Earlier this year, Kay Bradley and the team at Bradley’s Jewellers York announced they would be back with a bang for the 2023 York Ice Trail. Positioned just outside the Low Petergate boutique, a six-foot-tall ice sculpture of a diamond trilogy ring was one of the highlights of the walking tour… but it was what was hidden inside that got people talking.
Once again, the team froze a special piece of jewellery at the heart of the ice sculpture and invited customers, guests, and local VIPs to guess the carat weight of the centre stone. One person with the right answer who entered online before midnight on February 11, 2023, would walk away with the ring and add it to their jewellery collection. The only condition? The winner must wait until the ice melts to claim their prize!
The ring chosen as this year’s grand prize is a one-carat laboratory-grown solitaire ring from the York Rose Collection. Kay Bradley designed the whole range to pay homage to the city of York and capture the iconic White Rose of Yorkshire in precious metal form. If you look closely at pieces in this collection, you’ll notice a York Rose built into the side profile as a little reminder of the region. The laboratory-grown diamond we chose for this ring is E colour and VS2 clarity, making it an ideal engagement ring for someone special. It’s also certified by the International Gemological Institute for complete peace of mind.
Nearly 1,000 people entered to win the ring, and more than 500 of you got the answer right, which means you were in with a chance of winning. We drew one name randomly and had the pleasure of revealing their good luck to them earlier this week.
Kay Bradley says: “It is really important for us to be part of the local community here in York. We get involved in events like the York Ice Trail because it allows us to celebrate everything that York has to offer and meet lots of new faces. I was blown away by the number of people who entered our competition, and I’d like to thank everyone who took the opportunity to guess the carat weight. We appreciate your support of our independent, local business.”
To celebrate the success of the competition, Kay is preparing to send all those who entered a £150 voucher to spend in-store at Bradley’s Jewellers York on Low Petergate. The discount applies to purchases made in person valued at £750 or more. Keep an eye on your email inbox for further information, or speak to a Bradley’s Jewellers team member to find out more.
